Senior Network Engineer – High Frequency Trading – London – £150k + bonuses

Durlston Partners is working with a HFT firm that is looking for a Network Engineer to build, secure, and automate the hybrid-cloud infrastructure powering their high-frequency trading platform. You will ensure 24/7 uptime and low-latency connectivity between their on-premise data centers, AWS environments, and global crypto exchanges.

Core responsibilities:

• Hybrid Architecture: Manage connectivity between AWS (VPC, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway) and physical data centers using BGP and OSPF.
• Network Automation: Replace manual workflows with Python scripts and IaC tools (Terraform/Ansible) to provision and update network resources.
• Security: Configure and maintain Palo Alto firewalls (VM-Series & Physical), implementing granular policies to secure proprietary trading algorithms.
• Performance: Monitor network latency and jitter (Datadog/Splunk) to ensure optimal execution speeds for trading strategies.

You’ll ideally have experience with:

• Python: Proficient in scripting for network automation (Netmiko, Napalm, or Boto3).
• AWS: Deep knowledge of cloud networking, Security Groups, and Transit Gateways.
• Security: Expert-level configuration of Palo Alto Networks (Panorama, GlobalProtect, IPSec VPNs).
• Protocols: Strong grasp of TCP/IP, BGP, and multicast.

Preferred

• Experience in Crypto/DeFi or High-Frequency Trading.
• Palo Alto (PCNSE) or AWS Advanced Networking certifications.
• Linux/Bash proficiency.
