Advice for Interviewing

If you already have a 9-5 and are planning to start interviewing soon, here are 3 pieces of advice:

1. Stick to 1 or 2 Recruiters

Preferably, these should be recruiters you’ve already established a relationship with, who also have a good coverage of your target market.

A major benefit of using recruiters is that they can efficiently manage your processes, timelines, and offers—all from a single point of contact.

Avoid more than 2 recruiters to simplify interactions. Also, less biased advice comes from a recruiter representing you for multiple roles.

2. Limit yourself to 3-5 processes maximum at a time

Interviewing can be both time-consuming and stressful, and there’s a point at which juggling multiple processes can become counterproductive

Start with a limited number of processes and increase gradually if needed.

3. Monitor your applications and resume distribution

Sadly, some agencies share resumes without consent, harming all parties.

Be aware that agencies typically have an “ownership” period of 6-12 months with their clients.

Inform your Recruiter about past applications for better guidance.

Keep a detailed record of where and when you’re applying and who is authorised to send out your resume.

Hope this helps – feel free to ask more questions if you have any!
