Looking for a new job?

When you start looking for new opportunities, our biggest advice is understanding the importance of not spreading yourself too thin.

We see many candidates starting dozens of processes at the same time and speaking to dozens of recruiters, which in our experience can quickly become overwhelming. Interviews are time consuming and require preparation!

If a recruiter insists on sending your CV to over 5 places at any one time, chances are that they are just trying to tick their KPI boxes as opposed to making sure the roles are tailored to you.
Our advice is to select one or two good recruiters that you can build a long-term relationship with and can cover most of the market/industry that you are targeting, with no more than 4 or 5 tailored applications at a time.

Here are a few good reasons:
-There is a higher chance of being your best self with every -process
-The roles will be tailored to your exact needs and expectations
It helps cut the noise and limits the number of people you need to interact with
-An experienced and unbiased recruiter with your best interest at heart will advise you when required and not be “pushy”
-They will provide you with tailored interview preparation materials to save you time and help you get the most out of your limited prep time
-The benefits of having a 10 minute conversation with a recruiter that is genuinely trying to get a better understanding of your situation and expectations for your next role is so valuable, this will save you hours of unnecessary conversations and interview times further down the line.

If you find yourself exploring the market at the moment or would like to build a connection for the future, do not hesitate to get in touch with any of our consultants at DURLSTON PARTNERS so we can arrange an exploratory chat.
